Polyamide fabric D9 is a blue, smooth fabric at 185 gsm and 150 cm width. Polyamide offers higher tensile and abrasion strength than polyester, which additionally qualifies the material for edge reinforcement.
Two applications in one material
D9 is used as a smooth top cover for ironing tables. It also serves as an edge strip on press covers: the strip is sewn to the cover edge and absorbs the pulling forces from draw strings or tension springs without tearing. The cover itself therefore lasts considerably longer.
Why polyamide here?
Polyamide fibres have higher elongation at break and abrasion resistance than polyester. That is exactly what is needed at cover edges, where high point loads are introduced through spring claws. Polyamide also stays supple after many steam cycles instead of becoming brittle.
Processing notes
D9 is supplied on rolls of 30 or 50 m at 150 cm width, sold from one running metre. For edge strips, cut widths of 8 to 12 cm, fold them double and sew them on with a heat-resistant thread.

Häufige Fragen
Can I use D9 as a complete cover?
Yes, D9 works very well as a smooth top cover. For very large areas, polyester such as D8 is usually more economical.
Which thread is suitable for sewing?
A heat-resistant sewing thread, ideally polyester or aramid based, so the seam withstands steam temperature.
How heat resistant is polyamide?
Roughly 140 to 150 °C contact temperature continuously; it tolerates more for short periods.
