PA air bag fabric D1 is an olive polyamide fabric at approximately 90 gsm and 170 cm width. It is developed specifically for form finishers and dollies, where the lowest possible air permeability determines inflation speed.
Why low air permeability matters
A form finisher shapes the garment by filling the air bag with warm air. The less air escapes through the fabric, the faster internal pressure builds and the cleaner the silhouette becomes. D1 is set exactly for this, without being so tight that residual moisture can no longer dry off.
Material properties in detail
Polyamide is remarkably tear resistant at low fabric weight, which is the decisive property for an air bag under internal pressure. At around 90 gsm the fabric stays light and folds cleanly when deflated. The olive finish is insensitive to discolouration from warm air and steam.
Cutting dolly covers
D1 is supplied on 50 m rolls at 170 cm width and sold from one metre. When making air bags, felled or double-stitched seams are recommended so no air escapes at the seams and loads are introduced over a wide area.

Can D1 also be used as an ironing table cover?
Technically possible but not sensible: the material is deliberately air-tight, whereas a table cover should let steam through.
Which form finishers does the fabric fit?
D1 is a universal air bag fabric and is cut for dollies from various manufacturers.
How much does the material shrink?
Polyamide is dimensionally stable in normal operation. Allow a few percent extra for close-fitting covers.
