Stainless steel wire fabric EDG/BRI is a smooth twill fabric made from stainless steel wire at 150 cm width. Unlike copper and brass, stainless steel does not oxidise and therefore never transfers metallic discolouration to the garment.
The advantage of stainless steel
Copper and brass screens develop a patina under steam, which can become a problem with very light or delicate fabrics. Stainless steel is corrosion resistant and stays bright permanently. For operations working mainly with light goods or with high hygiene requirements, that is the decisive point.
Function on the upper plate
As a top screening, EDG/BRI interrupts flat contact between hot plate and fabric and thereby prevents shine. The smooth twill weave ensures the screen structure itself does not imprint into the outer fabric.
Availability
EDG/BRI is marked as a discontinued item. It is sold in square metres; one running metre at 150 cm equals 1.5 m², minimum order 5 metres or 7.5 m². As successor solutions, the copper qualities KKV25 and KKV50 are available.

Häufige Fragen
Why is stainless steel not the standard?
Stainless steel conducts heat considerably less well than copper, so pressing performance is lower at the same plate temperature.
Is the screen magnetic?
Only weakly, depending on the alloy. This is irrelevant for the application.
What follows after the discontinuation?
The tinned copper screens KKV25 and KKV50 are the recommended alternatives.
