Meta-aramid needlefelt NXNF49 offers 500 gsm at 5 mm thickness and is reinforced with a scrim. This insert is the decisive difference compared with plain needlefelts.
What the scrim delivers
Plain needlefelts consist of entangled fibres with no load-bearing structure. Under tension during fitting and under extraction in operation they can stretch and distort. The integrated fabric absorbs these forces so the pad stays true to size.
Why this matters on ironing tables
Ironing table pads are pulled over the table edge and fixed under tension. Exactly there arise the forces that permanently deform a pad without scrim. NXNF49 withstands this load and retains its original surface area.
Temperature and ordering
As a meta-aramid, NXNF49 is resistant to around 220 °C continuously and therefore also suits high-temperature applications. Invoiced in square metres; one running metre at 160 cm equals 1.6 m².

Can I use NXNF49 on presses as well?
Yes. The scrim does no harm but matters less there than on tensioned table covers.
Is the scrim visible?
It lies inside the felt and cannot be seen from the outside.
Which alternative comes without scrim?
NXNF33 at 6 mm thickness, somewhat softer and more voluminous.
