It is used wherever cotton and polyester covers fail at their temperature limit.

Temperature resistance as the buying argument

Cotton and polyester reach their limit at around 150 °C contact temperature. Meta-aramid withstands approximately 220 °C continuously without melting or charring. On fusing presses, wrinkle-free lines and high-temperature pressing machines, NN1 is often the only technically clean solution.

What the twisted construction delivers

In NN1 the yarns are twisted rather than simply spun. This raises abrasion resistance considerably without pushing up fabric weight. At 140 gsm the cover stays steam permeable and easy to tension, an advantage over heavy aramid qualities.

Colours and selection guide

NN1 is available in natural, olive and blue. Natural is the standard; the dyed versions are preferred where residues are visually disturbing or covers need to be clearly distinguishable in production. If more substance is required, the full twisted NN2 at 220 gsm is the next step up.

Technical data

Material

Nomex® (meta-aramid)

Colour

natural

Weight

140 gsm

Width

160 cm

Roll length

30 m

Temperature resistance

up to approx. 220 °C

Sales unit

m

Item number

110017T

Manufacturer

Trecolan Handels GmbH

Frequently asked questions

When is Nomex worth it over cotton?

As soon as contact temperature is permanently above 150 °C, or cotton covers char and turn brown noticeably fast.

Is NN1 steam permeable?

Yes.
