Cotton moleskin SM123 is the lighter moleskin quality at around 400 gsm and 2.5 mm thickness, available in four widths from 100 to 200 cm. The choice of widths makes it the most flexible moleskin in the range.
Replacement for stripping felt
On fusing machines, stripping felt is traditionally used to pick up adhesive residues and fibre fly. SM123 takes over that job while being easier to handle and available in more widths, a practical advantage when adapting to a machine.
Width choice as a cost factor
With 100, 150, 160 and 200 cm the width can be matched precisely to the machine. That noticeably reduces waste: covering a 100 cm area with 160 cm material wastes almost 40 % of the material.
Further applications
Besides fusing machines, SM123 is used as an intermediate pad on pressing machines and ironing tables. At 2.5 mm it adds little build-up and works well as an absorbent layer directly beneath the top cover.

Which width is the most economical?
Per square metre the 100 cm version is cheapest, but what matters is which width produces the least waste.
Can SM123 be washed?
Cotton tolerates washing at 60 °C but shrinks. Allow extra material.
When is M27 the better choice?
When more padding volume and absorbency are needed – M27 is 600 gsm and 3 mm.
