Glass silk insulation hose GIS25 is a white insulating sleeve with a 25 mm diameter, supplied on rolls of 50 metres. It is pulled over steam and condensate lines to insulate them thermally.
Why steam lines are insulated
An uninsulated steam line loses energy on the way to the consumer and cools the steam, producing condensate, dripping and stains on the goods. Hot lines in the working area are also a burn hazard. An insulation hose solves both problems.
Properties of glass silk
Glass silk is non-combustible, temperature resistant well above normal steam temperatures and chemically stable. Unlike foam insulation it does not age under heat and retains its insulating effect throughout the life of the installation.
Fitting and ordering
The hose is slipped over the line, ideally before the fittings are mounted. At ends and transitions it can be secured with wire or heat-resistant tape. Minimum order 25 running metres, rolls of 50 metres.
