MICRO-SIL foam silicone SIL85 is an old rose, hard-set sheet pad 6 mm thick in the 1800 x 900 mm format. It is developed specifically for fusing and laundry presses.
Why hard on fusing presses?
During fusing, pressure must be even and high enough across the whole area so the hot-melt adhesive is fully activated. A soft pad yields more at thick spots and lowers the pressure there, producing voids in the bond. A hard pad keeps the pressure constant.
Use on laundry presses
Laundry presses work with high pressure and large steam volumes at short cycle times. A hard, heat-resistant silicone pad transmits that pressure without loss and withstands the continuous thermal load far better than soft qualities.
Format and ordering
The sheet measures 1800 x 900 mm, i.e. 1.62 m², and is sold by the piece. Cut with a sharp knife or rotary cutter.

As an underpad, yes. As the top layer it would let contours print through, so a soft pad belongs above it.
What does the old rose colour mean?
It serves for clear identification in production; every MICRO-SIL quality has its own colour code.
