Nomex® needlefelt NXNF1 is a meta-aramid intermediate pad at 300 gsm and 4 mm thickness, available in 160 and 180 cm width. It is the heat-resistant answer to polyester needlefelts, which reach their limit at high plate temperatures.
Where polyester stops
Polyester needlefelts harden and glaze at continuous temperatures above 150 °C. Meta-aramid withstands around 220 °C without melting or charring. On fusing presses and high-temperature pressing machines this extends pad service life many times over.
Thin yet load bearing
At 4 mm, NXNF1 builds up flat and therefore suits presses with limited opening height. The needlefelt structure at 300 gsm brings enough substance to level out plate irregularities and distribute pressing force evenly.
Fitting position and ordering
NXNF1 sits between the base pad and the top cover. It is invoiced in square metres: one running metre equals 1.6 m² at 160 cm or 1.8 m² at 180 cm width. Both widths carry the same price per square metre.

As soon as contact temperature is permanently above roughly 150 °C, or polyester felts harden noticeably fast.
Which width should I choose?
The one that covers your plate in a single piece – seams in the padding cause imprints.
What is the difference to NXNF3?
NXNF3 is 600 gsm and 6 mm, so considerably more voluminous and intended for heavier applications.
