The polyester needled felt PNF2 with 650 g/m² and 8 mm thickness is the best-selling intermediate padding in the Trecolan range. It covers the standard case: sufficient volume, high density, and a material price that allows for large-scale use.
The Role of Intermediate Padding
Between the base padding and the top cover, the felt layer prevents buttons, seams, and zippers from pressing imprints into the fabric. It absorbs these protrusions and distributes the pressure evenly across the surface.
Why 650 g/m² Is a Good Choice
Lighter felts compress quickly and lose their effectiveness. Significantly heavier grades add bulk and extend the steam path. 650 g/m² at 8 mm lies in the range that balances both – which is why PNF2 is the standard.
Processing and Ordering
PNF2 comes in rolls of 30 meters at 150 cm width. Billing is in square meters; one linear meter equals 1.5 m². Cutting is done with scissors or a rotary cutter; edge finishing is not required.

Häufige Fragen
What is the difference from the 6 mm version?
The 6 mm variant (article 150002T) has the same weight per unit area, but is constructed more loosely and is therefore more voluminous and softer.
How long does a PNF2 padding last?
Depending on cycle rate and temperature, several months to years. Hardening and loss of height are the replacement signals.
Is PNF2 heat-resistant enough for fusing presses?
Up to approximately 150 °C, yes. Above that, aramid grades such as NXNF33 are the right choice.
