Polyester cloth PNSL1 is a polyester fabric silicone coated on one side, at 265 gsm and 160 cm width. The silicone layer gives the fabric a non-stick surface without completely removing the steam permeability of the carrier.
What is the silicone coating for?
On gluing and fusing presses, hot-melt adhesive strikes through the outer material. On untreated fabric it sticks and cures. The silicone layer on PNSL1 prevents a firm bond, so residues can be removed mechanically once cooled.
Construction and handling
The 265 gsm polyester carrier provides dimensional stability and tear strength, while the silicone layer sits on one side only. Orientation therefore matters during fitting: the coated side faces the garment or the bonding surface.
An alternative to PTFE fabric
Compared with PTFE glass fabric, PNSL1 is more textile, more flexible and considerably cheaper. At very high temperatures or extreme adhesive loads, PTFE coated fabrics such as TG2 or TG8 SK remain the more robust solution.

Häufige Fragen
Which side carries the coating?
One side only; it faces the bonding or pressing surface when fitted.
How long does the silicone layer last?
That depends on temperature and abrasion. Declining non-stick performance is the signal to replace it.
Is PNSL1 steam permeable?
Only to a limited extent – the coating deliberately reduces steam flow. For full steam permeability, uncoated cloth qualities are the choice.
