Polyester wire screening AG18 is the coarse quality in the intermediate layer range, 150 cm wide. Its open structure is deliberate: as an interlayer the fabric should primarily conduct steam, not seal.
The job of an intermediate layer
In many press build-ups an intermediate layer sits between padding and top cover. It distributes steam across the area, protects the padding from abrasion and stabilises the stack. The more open the fabric, the less it restricts steam flow.
Upper or lower layer?
AG18 works in both positions. Beneath the padding it distributes the steam emerging from the plate; above the padding it protects it from mechanical stress caused by the top cover.
Cost efficiency
AG18 is the most economical polyester wire screening quality in the range. Because intermediate layers are replaced far less often than top covers, the cost per operating year is very low.

Häufige Fragen
Can AG18 serve as a top cover?
Not advisable – the coarse structure would imprint into the outer fabric. AG16, AG20 or AG27 are intended for that.
How often is an intermediate layer replaced?
Far less often than the top cover, usually only when visible deformation or hardening occurs.
How is the order quantity calculated?
In square metres; one running metre at 150 cm equals 1.5 m².
