PTFE foil TF050 is the heavy version of the self-adhesive sliding film: 0.50 mm material thickness in a 300 x 200 mm format. Double the thickness of TF025 pays off wherever the foil is mechanically stressed.
When 0.50 mm pays off
Thin foils wear through quickly at edges and under point loads. Where a presser foot runs over edges, where material is guided under pressure or where cut edges slide across the foil, double the material thickness considerably extends service life.
Properties of PTFE
PTFE is chemically almost inert, temperature resistant into the 260 °C range and has an extremely low friction coefficient. This combination makes it the standard material for sliding and release applications in textile processing.
Handling
Cut with scissors or a knife. Clean and degrease the substrate before bonding. With thicker foils it helps to round the corners slightly so they do not lift.

When is TF025 sufficient?
For fine work without heavy mechanical load. For anything more robust, TF050 is the better choice.
Can the foil be reused?
After removal the adhesive layer usually no longer holds reliably; the foil is intended as a wear part.
Is the foil heat resistant?
PTFE itself is; the adhesive layer limits the continuous temperature.
